Last Friday we went to see Happy Days -the Musical.
What a great show! The La Mirada theater always has great productions!

While we were standing in the 'will call' line for our tickets... who could that be in line ahead of us--right there at the ticket window? It was the show's composer, Paul Williams! (Large as life... OK, short--he's not a tall man)
He was obviously in need of a sugar fix, because he was drinking a soda and eating a candy bar at the same time. His lovely wife was concerned that their tickets had been lost by the box office, but more endearingly --that the theater wouldn't start the show until all of the people in the long 'will call' line had been seated. (She got my vote!)
I didn't realize what a lot of things that Paul Williams has done. Listed below are just some of the songs he's famous for:
- "We've Only Just Begun"
- "Rainy Days and Mondays"
- "I Won't Last a Day Without You"
- "What Would They Say"
- "When the River Meets the Sea"
- "Rainbow Connection"
- "(Just An) Old Fashioned Love Song"
- "The Family Of Man"
- "Theme to the Love Boat"
- "Evergreen (Love Theme from A Star Is Born)"
- "Let Me Be the One"
- "You and Me Against the World
Back to the show. I highly recommend it. The Malachi Brothers are hysterical (they were the bad guys who still terrorized the locals, and had the nerve to mess up Fonzie's hair back when he was 5)! The costumes and staging are super. And the casting was also great--the Fonz was a ringer for Henry Winkler. And, there were bunches of fun references to the Happy Days culture and future world events and people worked into the script.
Fun! Go see it when it comes around on tour!

Just got all caught up!
Will leave lots of comments tomorrow :)
Loved the story about D campaigning, by the way!
Here come those comments ... cuz it's WAY past tomorrow.
First off. Where did you find that cool ridiculous flower?
I love it.
Second.
Does this t shirt make me look fat?
3. What are we doing for gingerbread houses this year?
Happy Days theme?
The Fonz is going to be a panda bear on my porch with a cool "doo".
Of course ... then all of the CATS will have to copy the panda.
They will all want cool doos of their own.
And once the CATS have doos ... all of the FISH will need doos.
And the turtles.
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd Mom.
And me.
And you know that you have to copy every cool thing that Iiiiiii do ... so you will make yourself a frosting Fonzy doo as well.
I wonder if Magdalena will?
Nahhhhh.
She is far too sensible for that.
After we help her carry her gingerbread house to her car, we will all jump into wormholes with our digital cameras.
We will visit alternative universes, take pictures of THEIR gingerbread houses, which look nothing like houses.
... THEIR gingerbread houses ...
look like ...
goblets.
disappointed, we will jump back through our worm holes, come home and share our photos, and be glad that we have the COOLEST gingerbread houses in the universe.
... and we will put one of those talking flowers in the front yard of our house.
Maybe three of them.
So they can visit.
It MUST get boring living on a gingerbread board.
Of course ... at night, we will wake up to hear singing.
Those dang flowers.
But of course ... once we teach them all of the music from the Happy Days musical, all will be well again.
They are quick learners, these flowers.
And their voices? They BLEND like barbershop legends.
Lah lah laaa laaa laaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Sunday Monday happy days!
Tuesday Wednesday THUMP.
What happened?
I smacked those flowers, says Justin.
You know what?
Let's just stick with the panda bear with the doo.
pssssssssst.
Thanks for your comments on my posts.
You have been way more diligent in commenting lately than I have.
Firing my bacon gun (its' set to gentle) your way:
BLAM BLAM BLAM
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
bacon.
Can THAT be the theme of the houses this year?
First of all -- I LOVE the flower too. If you look up gumart.com you'll find the cool artwork that I've featured several times.
I loved the Justin hitting the flower scenario to shut it up! (He does have a thing about noise! He'll march into {name any room here} and turn off any electronic equipment that he feels is unnecessarily noise polluting the area!
"What's that?"
"Do you need that?"
"No you don't."

What shirt?
The houses are small this year, multiple, and on a mountain!
.... this imaginary t shirt.
justin walks in and smacks me on the head.
shut up! it's 4 in the morning. Talk about your shirt some other time!
How DID it get to 4 in the morning and I am still up?
I got 10 hours of sleep last night. That must have been it.
Did you smack Justin back?
Think small... the houses (two each) are very small this year.
